"Better than okay." She whispered, her voice feeling light. "Happy New Year."
It felt like a silly sentiment and rather unimportant now but it was something to say, something to fill the silence and fight away the questions that slowly crept to the surface of Freya's mind. She didn't know what this New Year will bring and she wasn't sure if that was a blessing or a curse. She'd never done anything like this before and for once she wanted to give it a try. She wanted Thorfinn to stay with her and she trusted that he would.
Freya didn't pull away and yet she noticed that fingers were trembling, from either terror or excitement. It was difficult for her to say which she felt more. The feelings were so close together, like love and hate, and she couldn't pull the sensations apart.

"Freya, I want you to be with me. I don't know if you want it to, but I do, and even if you sat no, I'll always remain your dearest friend." He could handle a challenge even if it might hurt he wanted to give it a try. Casual courting was not something he knew of, he wanted to ask her to marry him but he felt he should wait at least until she answered.

"Thorfinn." His name sounded so sweet and so pained. "I-" She had to look away from him and down towards the space between them. Her head and her heart conflicted. She'd be honest because it was Thorfinn, she refused to lie to him and even if she was scared, she'd try her best. "I want to." She looked back into his gaze. "I really want to be with you but-" She wished she could stop her fingers from shaking. She gripped behind his neck and his hand a little more firmly hoping it might steady her.
"There is so much I don't know. I don't know how any of this works or what it means. I've watched humans fall in and out of love. What if you do and I don't? What if a wolf shows up and instinct tells me to do one thing while my heart tells me to do something else?" Freya knew that no matter what happened Thorfinn would have her heart. He'd managed to secure it without her even knowing and now she feared what might happen if it broke. "What if you leave? What if you forget me? What if someone doesn't agree with you or us?" She felt her voice choke and her eyes close to stop herself from crying. She felt so lost, so blind and she didn't know what to do. To many feelings rose and clashed inside of her.
It was over whelming for someone who's tried so hard not to feel.

It was only after she finished that he shifted on his knees, so he could move his other hand to hold her face, the watch dropped into the dirt beside them so he could grip her hand a little stronger. The world was moving around her in that moment in his mind. He didn't know what he was doing but he wanted to hear her say his name so sweet but with so much less pain. A world painting behind his eyes.
"I don't see me ever losing this feeling. You make me feel something I have never felt before. And if instinct demands you do something else, than by the gods we will cross that bridge when we get there. Your not human, I get that. I understand how instincts work, I might get jealous but fuck it, we'll figure it out. Just like we've done with everything here. And if people dont approve fuck them. I don't need anyone but you. I don't want anyone but you. Freya."
He paused to look in her eyes again. "I want to marry you."

That wasn't what normal people said and Freya was reminded again that Thorfinn wasn't normal. He was perfectly not normal and it was then she realized that it was one of the things she liked about him. He wasn't like anyone she's ever known. He wormed his way into her heart in a surprising way and then sat there, to stubborn to leave her be. He's the only person she's met to try as hard as he has for both others and himself. He understood what it meant to be alone even when surrounded by a sea of people. He understood her in a way that no one else had before.
She didn't know when it started but tears began to gather and spill down her cheeks. Her fingers wrapped tightly around his as he shifted on his knees. Freya was sitting at an awkward angle but she didn't think she had the strength to move herself.
"Thorfinn." Her tone was soft, pleading, begging, hoping. "You keep making me want things." And now she was crying and she didn't even know why. She wasn't even sure if her tears were sad or something else. "Just tell me." Freya looked at him, her eyes light and wide while tears fell freely down her cheeks. "Is this what it's suppose to feel like? When you love someone? I'm scared but I'm so happy and I can't stop crying and I don't know why but I don't think it's bad." She smiled, even though she was crying. It was the most confusing set of emotions ever and Freya decided that it must be what love was. It couldn't be anything else.

He would never leave her alone, not as long as he had a chance.
Thorfinn leaned in without a thought, tipping her head just a bit when she finished speaking, kissing the tears flowing down her cheek, the strangest reaction, he wanted to drink her pain away, licking once at the tears, his eyes closed after a moment of the strange reaction. Laying his head on her collarbone as his one hand remained on his cheek, the other in her hand.
"I dont know, Freya. I don't know... but I would think so, its both beautiful and terrifying... your the first thing to truely frighten me in ages... I am so scared you will leave. I am not used to being scared... its why I stayed silent about it all."

"I don't want to leave." She finally moved, her fingers tugging softly at his hair while her hand firmly took his. She pressed her face against the top of his head as she moved her frame closer to his. "I don't want to leave you." She corrected herself, making her statement more accurate.
"I want to stay with you forever." Even if forever had a time limit. "I want to marry you too." It felt like an odd thing to say but fitting. It was the closest thing that humans had to mating, wolves weren't nearly so formal with titles. She just wanted to be his and for him to be hers. It was that simple, whatever title others wanted to give it. "Even if it's scary."
Freya released a shaky breath. "Besides, if anyone is going to get jealous it'll probably be me." She smiled but she was still crying. It took Freya a moment to realize that she was crying tears of joy.

"Stay with me." The feel of her hand tugging at his hair got a rumble from his chest, he liked the feel of her fingers tugging at the silken stands. It was strange being the one curled into her, but it felt right and perfect. To let go of his strength in the quiet moment under the stars and let her hold him. "It is scary, we'll be fine though, we have each other." He took a shallow breath and pushed up. Looking down at her, finally smiling again one that reached his eyes.
"We'll see about that Freya." About the jealousy. "How does the spring sound? We can get married under the trees surrounded by the life of the forest in bloom."

Freya felt him lift himself and released her hold on his hair. She pressed her palm to the underside of her eye to stop her tears. It was probably really weird that she had cried but she didn't really care. She nodded dumbly at his question, a surprised smile spreading quickly over her lips.
"I think that everyone will think that we're crazy but yeah... Spring sounds nice. Can it be near a river?" She loved the way streams babbled. "Another, probably not important question but was that our first kiss or the Yule one?" That she only sort of remembered. "Did I say anything weird at Yule?" Considering how she felt now, she assumed that she must have.

Shaking his head some he shrugged. "We are crazy, so why care what they think? And yes, I would like that, hell some wedddings back home the bride if taken on a raft downstream to where the wedding would be." He explained adding "Ive only been to one before and it was not that fancy but mother told me of her wedding once." Not who they were just the beauty of it.
He had to think on her second question. "I'd say this one, but that's because we both get to remember it... and the only strange thing you said was that you thought I liked Azula. Which is you forgot that, she is just a close friend. She is not at all someone I have feelings like this for."
no subject
Freya felt her cheeks turn a slight shade of pink. "Did I really ask that?" She could believe it but it was one of those things that she never thought she'd say out loud. She was blunt and forward but some thoughts are better kept in her head. "Well, she seemed to like you." Or it was just because she was jealous and didn't know it. It was really hard to look back on a time you don't remember and determine your own reasoning.
"I don't know a lot about how humans do certain things." She admitted looking down for a few seconds before meeting his gaze again. "I do know about weddings but that's because I used to watch to many movies. I think something simple is better." She didn't want anything big or ridiculous. As it was she didn't even know how to tell people or who she'd tell. Elsa would probably look at her like she was being rash, she was far more sensible than Freya. How do you even bring up something like this to someone else?
Freya had to snap herself out of her own thoughts. She looked up at Thorfinn and after a moment wrapped her arms around his waist. She wasn't going to hold back with touching now. "Whatever. I just want to hold you and I'm not letting you say no." She thudded her forehead against his chest before peeking up at him.

"We could ask other people to help but, honestly I think whatever we choose will be best." He admitted his thoughts. Being around the woods and water is enough for me, as long as I have you I don't care." he was going to have to find a ring, he knew that much but he had a few months to worry about that. He knew he would have to talk to Jo, Ragnar and Bull, and Thor of Course, but he wasn't sure how to bring it up. He'd figure it out. He was good at problem solving and ready to deal with burned bridges if need be.
When her arms wrapped around his waist he wrapped his own arms back around her to hold her closer, feeling a little more at ease. He smiled down at her and shifted them, he had to use a lot of his arm strength but he pulled his knees from under him so he could lay them back into the grass. "You wont hear me say no."

No one else really matter.
She knew that Harry would have a few choice words for her. He’d tease her to know end but she knew that all of her friends liked Thorfinn and if they didn’t, well it was because they didn’t know him yet. Freya talked to a lot more people than she realized. She tugged at his side again and lifted her lips to press lightly along his jaw line. It was the only part that she could reach, lying down as they were.
She whispered softly between them, "mine," in an affectionate tone. Sylvi must have heard her because the snowy pup came over to join the snuggle pile. "Okay, I’ll share you with Sylvi." He was, after all, a mom.

Thorfinn didn't expect anyone to like him, but it certainly made things easier if they did. He's never force her friends to deal with him or vise versa but he would silently judge. This new thing, it didn't change much that he saw. He smiled softly at the feel of her lips on his jaw line. His stubble already back. A hand trailing along her spine. "Mine." he mirrored back, with a possessive bite. "And Sylvi's." He added, since of course the beautiful baby would worm her way in between them.

Though she supposed in this case she was supposed to be the mom but it felt as if Thorfinn fit that role better.

She felt sleep press heavily against her senses but she didn't want to let go just yet. She wanted this night to last, even if it was just for a few more seconds. She mumbled softly, the words just audible away from the noise of the towns. "I want a big family." Even if she was scared to lose it, she wanted it.

Thorfinn smiled softly the two sleepy females so close to him had him ready to knock out to, Sylvi was already getting comfortable to sleep again. Thorfinn yawned a little. "Me to." It was just two words, but a promise in a way.
