Thorfinn had never been anything but human so he didn't real any change besides the changes of his heart. The need to protect the woman he hoped to have kids with sooner or later. The woman he hoped in spring to see in a crown of flowers under the beautiful blooming trees ready to become his completely. For now those thoughts were unimportant, calming her was first and foremost.
